The Heart

I believe that, for healthy women, birth is a safe and normal experience.

I believe that birth is also sacred and spiritual in nature, beautifully designed by the good Giver of breath and life.

I believe that women are strong human beings, designed to experience birth and fully capable of birthing naturally.

I believe that babies are also designed to emerge from the experience safely and unharmed.

I believe that good nutrition is an essential aspect of safe birthing and possibly the single most important physical factor in determining the outcome of pregnancy.

I believe that a well-trained and well-equipped attendant offers healthy women and their families a safe opportunity to give birth in an environment of confidence, relaxation, trust, and security.

I believe that beginnings are important, and that a gentle, natural birth is best for both mothers and babies.

I believe babies and mothers should not be separated at birth.

I believe that while giving birth is an important experience, becoming a mother and a father is a life-long calling with incredible purpose, refining challenges, and great joy.
